SEASON RECAP

End of season statistics:

Keys to success for the future:

Season  Highlights:

8/14 (Mon)  Pre-Season Starts        8:00AM and 6:00PM Cupertino HS
The turn out was smaller than last year, which I expected.  Only about 22.

9/7 (Thu)  Lynbrook Scrimmage
A very low key affair on a slightly modified course.  Sumika runs head to head with Katie Nast of Saratoga most of the way, then pulls away with about 600-700 to go.
Simei broke through and was our 2nd finisher. Mrinal crashes through in 4:50, but melts down and finishes 4th.  Abiy was 2nd and Stas was 5th. That's was OK, he followed then plan.  Max shows some indication of getting on the varsity.

9/14 (Thu)  Firebird Invitational
Our first real meet on a cool windy day.  A lot more teams.  Mrinal finishes 5th,  Abiy and Stas also medal.  Sumika implements our strategy, but has to lead because the pace was too slow.  Only a slight lead at the mile, but has a good but vulnerable gap coming onto the track for the last time.  I tell her to start sprinting.  She immediately transistions her form.  She maintined her lead to the finish.  Max continues to impress in the Frosh/Soph race.  Both varsity teams finiish 3rd.  The real test is on Saturday.

9/16 (Sat) Chieftain Classic
Our first look at Toro this year.  I was disappointed in some the efforts, but only pleased by a few.  There seems to be a lack of mental toughness.  Max finished 7th in the JVB race.  He has earned a spot on the varsity team.  Derek, Nick, Ryo, and Zac finish within 14 seconds of each other, a minute behind Max.  Sumika runs with the front pack of 4-5 the whole race and finishes 3rd.  Our next girl was 2.5 minutes back.  Not good!!  Abiy leads the boys in with a 10th place finish.  Mrinal was a disapponting 22nd.  Peter finshed a strong 3rd for us.  There will be a shake-up of the varsity squad.
